I am Pete Ryan, you may have heard of me...No? Did you find something with peteryan.com labeled on it? I would really like to have it back and there may be a reward! pete at peteryan dot com
This is my little spot on the web where I spew words either every day or a few times a year. Who knows.
This is part of my afternoon commute home. I ride through part of Fort Snelling State Park. I prefer this much more than driving. As I took this picture up on 5 and 55 cars are backed up for nearly a mile along the road. Suckers.
Friday is bike to work day and you should do it. If you have showers near/at work you have no excuse. If you drive less than 5 miles, no excuse. :) 10 miles was my excuse for a long time not to ride in, but it is pretty easy. I met one guy here who rides nearly 26 miles each way 2-3 times a week. Makes me feel like a slacker all these years. Get out and ride!

I have been riding this route for about a month now, 3-4 days a week and I never want to go back to commuting full time by car. The thought of it makes me sad. Even in the winter I want to ride in and I am going to try. Right now my route is about 10 miles in each direction but the ride home usually get stretched into about 15 depending on time. :)

I am not exactly sure how many miles I have ridden, or how much weight I have dropped but by riding into work I am happier in the AM, get in two 45 minute workouts each time I ride in. Well have a good bike to work day Friday!

There are some pretty nice pictures in one of the books about Minneapolis railroads of the trains going past Fort Snelling way back when (120+ years?). Apparently they used to travel along the base of Fort Snelling, so I've assumed that's the path up into Minnehaha Park which you took a picture of. I was just on that path last Friday - took it up to my sister's house. That's a nice ride, although it's more soothing when you don't have to climb back up into Eagan...nice that you're taking the slightly down-hill route home.
I like the route, I did find some pictures a while back about the line that ran down there. Along part of the route you can still see the poles that ran along there. I have 5 miles of cars and like 5 miles of nice riding. And you nailed it, base of Ft. Snelling heading up to the park.
