My first attempt at making one of these. Anne and her Mom did the decoration and I did the basic construction. Next time I am going to try to get the roof lines straight. Hope you had a good X-Mas!

Ahh Mocha, how I love thee... I switched to you from the Hot Cocoa and you made me a more complete person. In fact you made me a much larger person. I love the mocha, but I don't love the pounds.
Let's take a look at how it added pounds and subtracted cash:
(Warning Basic Math Ahead)
I drank a large mocha pretty much every work day. The nutrition information for that drink is:
Calories: 570
Fat: 20
Carbs: 80
Protein: 17
Now we multiply that by 5 days a week.
Calories: 2850
Fat: 100
Carbs: 400
Protein: 85
Now we multiply that by 45 weeks. I chose 45 because I subtracted about 4 weeks of vacation, a few sick days and holidays. Then I rounded down a bit. So this is a conservative estimate.
Calories: 128,250
Fat: 4,500
Carbs: 18,000
Protein: 3,825
Now we will take the 128,250 calories and divide that by 3500. 3500 is the amount of calories in a pound of fat.
128,250/3500 = 36.64 lbs. a year.
Shit. Now I see how I got fat. Now how much did that cost me?
5 x 45=225, so 225 x $3.70 = $832.50 + tax = $886.62 without tip.
Shit. Well that isn't cheap. So what do I do now that I am addicted to coffee products but don't want to add the weight? I made the switch to regular coffee.
10 calories in a medium sized(16oz) cup. That would put me at 2250 calories a year or about 2/3rds of a pound. Now when I drink coffee I drink it from stuff brewed at home. mmm...
Peace Coffee... It costs me about $9.00 a pound and that will last me about 2-3 weeks. So that rings in at about $200.00 a year, or about $600.00 cheaper than the mochas.
Lots of stuff I can spend $600.00 on.
So I made the switch about a month ago. I have dropped over 20 pounds through watching my eating and drinking and exercise. I have been riding my bike on the trainer a bunch this last month. 675 miles total while watching movies on the computer.
I have also lowered my blood pressure, systolic from 141 to 120, and diastolic from 86 to 72.
I have been monitoring all of this on
Fitness Journal, if you want to try Fitness Journal leave a comment or send me an email. I will get ya 30 days free.
Well that is enough for today, I have learned that it is okay to have a have a treat once in a while but a mocha a day will add lots of unneeded lbs.

This is why Anne loves me. I do the dishes and clean my mountain bike shoes. The essentials have been washed. My shoes, the coffee cups, and my water bottles.

Actually I think this is one reason why I love Anne, she didn't get upset when she came home and saw this, she said, "Oh! You did the dishes!"

I need to update my site. Lets see, what is new? Well Anne and I got a Nintendo Wii for X-Mas. It is pretty cool. If you are bored you can email our Wii @
wii@peteryan.com and it will flash at me until I read the message.
So we own Super Monkey Ball, Zelda, Wii Sports, and a few Virtual Console games. I have been spending most of my Wii time playing Zelda. No, not the new one, the one that was made in 1987. It is played via the Virtual Console(VC). On the VC you can play Original Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, GameCube, and Sega Genesis games so far. Gotta tell ya, it is super cool. Stop over and play sometime.
Lets see, we pretty much have all our X-Mas cards ready to send out, presents wrapped, and have watched a few X-Mas movies so December is going fine so far. I am at 129.70 miles on the trainer so far this month, I am hoping to hit between 400-500 this month to keep things on track. I am going pretty slow so far and just trying to work on my pedaling technique.
Well anyway, that is my quick update. Here are some links to keep you busy...
Linky3:Atomic Shopping - Stuff for sale.
Arrowhead Ultra - Ultramarathon
Trans Iowa - Sweet ride, Next year anyone?
